Despite the transfer window being in full fling we are clearly not satisfied so we thought we’d take the time to pair up some early dream Fantrax signings with teams in need. These aren’t transfers we think will happen. But we think they’d be great fun and, if they did materialise, you can consider yourselves ahead of the game in assessing them for drafts / FAAB.

3. Rayan Cherki

The things that Rayan Cherki can do on the ball at the age of 19 are remarkable. He gets the ball forward quickly through both passing and dribbling the ball and manages a remarkable 6.15 shot creating actions per 90. That puts him just behind De Bruyne and just ahead of Bruno Fernandes.

  • He is a one man-creativity machine. 3 Key Passes per 90 (primarily non-set-piece driven), 1 SOT per 90, 3.8 Successful Take-Ons per 90. That’s almost 12 ghost points per game right there. And he’s no slouch in the Goal and Assist tallies either, with 4 and 6 last season respectively. For a team looking to elevate their attack, he’s a fantastic option.

  • On the other side of the evaluation, it is fair to say that he is not a prolific defender. By FBRef measures, not a single defensive stat is above the 15th percentile when compared to other AMs / wingers for Cherki. He’d need to both land in a system that can cope without him being a plus defender and, probably, learn to defend more.

Where we’d like to see him land: Newcastle United or Brentford, both of whom have very organised defensive sides to their game but both of whom also could benefit from someone to help them unlock defences as they continue to try to progress up the table.
